Get AnkiDroid ↗A SIMPLE START
Start with two Korean words: 가을 (autumn; fall) and 꿈 (dream). Follow the steps below to study them in Anki.
Anki is the app. It helps you remember what you learn.
A deck is a set of cards. We have made the cards for you.
You do not need to change any settings for this first lesson.
STEP 1
Choose the device you want to use. You only need one to start.
Get the app, then open it.
Get AnkiDroid ↗Get the computer app, then open it.
Get Anki ↗Check the App Store price first. Ask an adult for help if you need it.
See AnkiMobile ↗The free sample below costs nothing. An app fee, if there is one, is separate.
STEP 2
Use this small sample before choosing a larger deck. It has two words and four cards. You practise each word in two ways.
The file ends in .apkg. That just means it is a file Anki can open.
STEP 3
Choose your device below. Follow only its steps.
If tapping the file does not work, open AnkiDroid and look for Import in its menu. Choose the same file.
Open K-pop Beginner. If it is hidden, tap the arrow beside the VocabChoice name first. Then tap Study Now if your app shows it.
This sample has only two words. App buttons may look a little different on your device.
STEP 4
Try to remember the answer.
Check what you remembered. It is fine if you did not know it yet.
Use the buttons explained below.
Open the answers here to see what to do. These examples use the same words and sentences as your downloaded cards. Tap Listen to hear a word. A sentence plays when you open its answer. Tap Listen to hear it again. Your device needs a Korean voice; you can still read the cards without sound.
WORD CARD
One of four seasons which comes between summer and winter.
Think of the meaning. Then open the answer above.
SENTENCE CARD
여름이 지나면 ______이 와요.
Hint: autumn
여름이 지나면 가을이 와요.
Autumn comes after summer.
Say the missing word, or think it. You do not need to type.
WORD CARD
A mental phenomenon during one's sleep, in which one sees, hears, and feels just as if one is awake.
Think of the meaning. Then open the answer above.
SENTENCE CARD
저는 잠을 자다가 ______을 꿨어요.
Hint: dream
저는 잠을 자다가 꿈을 꿨어요.
I had a dream while sleeping.
Say the missing word, or think it. You do not need to type.
This page lets you try the cards. Use the Anki app to keep track of your study.
You can use these later, when the answer was right.
If you did not know the answer, choose Again, not Hard.
STEP 5
Keep going until Anki says you are done for now. Then you can stop.
Open the app again tomorrow. Anki will choose the cards to show you. You do not need to download the file again each day.
Look. Think. Check. Choose a button. That is your daily routine.
Look in Downloads or Files on the device you used. The file name ends in Free_Sample.apkg. You can also use the free sample button above to get it again.
Check your volume. On an Anki card, tap its play button. Your device may need a Korean voice added in its speech settings. You can still read and study without sound.
That can be normal. Anki may save another card for the same word for tomorrow. The two words each have a word card and a sentence card.
Open Anki and carry on. You do not need to start again.
Our K-pop cards include related songs. Tap a song title on your Anki card to open its official video. Learn the word from the card; its meaning can change from song to song.
Still need help? Email support@vocabchoice.com. Tell us your device, app name and what happened.
You can choose a larger word set when you are ready. You buy the word cards, not the Anki app. USD purchases are not open yet; payment setup is still being finished.
The full K-pop set comes as a ZIP. Open the ZIP first, then add each of its three APKG files to Anki.
To study on two devices, you can set up AnkiWeb sync. It copies your cards and progress between them. You do not need it for this first lesson.
This guide uses our actual sample cards and the official app manuals. Checked 19 October 2026.
